Administrative Fellowship
Seattle Children’s Hospital – ranked as one of the best children’s hospitals in the country by U.S. News & World Report – serves as the pediatric referral center for Washington, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho. For over 100 years, we have cared for children with illnesses and injuries. Though much has changed in pediatric medicine during the past century, we are proud that Seattle Children’s has often been at the forefront of these advances.
Seattle Children’s is dedicated to caring for our young patients, training healthcare professionals, pursuing research and clinical innovation and serving our community. To achieve our vision of being an innovative leader in pediatric health and wellness, one of our strategic plan goals is to develop the next generation of pediatric healthcare leaders.

Fellowship description and purpose
The Seattle Children’s Administrative Fellowship is a two-year program that prioritizes organizational initiatives and is tailored to the administrative fellows’ specific interests, as well as to organizational initiatives. Fellows will gain valuable mentorship and professional development opportunities from Seattle Children’s senior leaders and executives.
The primary objectives of the Administrative Fellowship Program are to:
- Support fellows in developing a comprehensive understanding of pediatric hospital operations
- Prepare fellows to assume a contributing role on a healthcare management team
- Provide fellows an opportunity to enhance important managerial competencies such as leadership skills and qualities, customer service, financial stewardship, operations management, change management and performance management

Fellowship goals
Our fellowship approaches development in a holistic manner, aiming to foster well-rounded and diverse future leaders. Goals and areas of focus for the program include:
- Leadership and Professional Development
- Identifying and developing a leadership style and identity
- Attending supplemental educational opportunities such as seminars, conferences, and workshops
- Setting goals and maintaining self-accountability for their attainment
- Prioritize equity, diversity, inclusion, anti-racism and health equity through self-education and engaging in the various learning opportunities Seattle Children’s has to offer
- Business and Analytical Abilities
- Developing and growing technical knowledge, skills, and abilities across departments and areas of the organization
- Performing duties such as attending daily huddles and meetings with clinical operations leaders
- Practice critical and innovative thinking when approaching issues and synthesizing solutions

- Practice professional verbal and written communication skills across varying scales and audiences

Jocelyn Rosen, MHA
Second Year Fellow
Originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota, Jocelyn attended the University of Minnesota where she received her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, prior to pursuing her Master of Health Administration degree from the University of Iowa. Jocelyn started working in healthcare while pursuing her undergraduate degree as an Administrative Aid to the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital’s Department of Pediatric Surgery and continued to grow her experience by working with the Chief Administrative Officer of the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital as a Graduate Assistant during her graduate education. Upon joining Seattle Children’s Hospital Jocelyn is excited to pursue her interests in employee engagement, patient experience, and culture, while also exploring additional departments and systems within the organization.
Stephanie Arellano, CTRS, MHA
First Year Fellow
Originally from Charlotte, North Carolina, Stephanie attended Western Carolina University from 2017-2022 where she received both her Bachelor of Science in Recreational Therapy and Master of Health Science in Management. During this period, Stephanie volunteered as a translator for a pro bono clinic and began to research fresh food insecurities within the Cherokee Indian community located in Western North Carolina. Upon joining Seattle Children’s Hospital, Stephanie is excited to pursue her interests in patient experience, culture, and translation/interpretation services.

- Scotty Sonntag is the Manager of the Integrated Behavioral Health Program with the Seattle Children’s Care Network (SCCN) and is currently leading efforts to implement and improve integrated behavioral health programs in primary care settings across Washington, 14 of which are within the SCCN, using a Learning Collaborative model which is a collaboration between the Seattle Children’s Psychiatry & Behavioral Health Department, The AIMS Center with the University of Washington, the Pediatric Integrated Care Collaborative (PICC) with John Hopkin’s University, and the SCCN.

It includes our OR scheduling teams who work tirelessly on improving access for our patients. Compensation
The Fellowship is a full-time, salaried position with market-competitive compensation and benefits. The current salary is $85,000/year, with the potential for a relocation bonus. Vacation and sick leave accrue as a normal full-time employee.
