FAQs

Here are answers to frequently asked questions about the temporary closure of the OBCC Central District clinic.

Q: Where is the new location and what services will it provide?

A: The site of the new Central District location is located at 1711 S. Jackson St. and will serve patients and families with robust mental health and behavioral health services.

Q: Why is the Central District temporarily closed?

A: During an evaluation of a project to repair the weather barrier and assess the structural integrity of OBCC Central District, we discovered the need for more extensive repairs to the building. For that reason, OBCC leadership made the decision to temporarily close this location to further assess and better understand the extent and nature of needed repairs. To minimize the impact on patient care, patients have been transferred to the OBCC Othello location during renovation.

Q: What are current transportation options for families who need to get to Othello?

A: OBCC Othello is 5.4 miles south of OBCC Central and is located across the street from the Othello Link light rail station and is central to many bus lines. OBCC Othello has free onsite parking for clinic visits. Enter the garage on the west side of the building on 39th Avenue S. We apologize for the impact this may have on patient families and workforce members.

Q: Will my child’s primary care provider (PCP) be available for appointments at OBCC Othello?

A: We have capacity at the Othello location to accommodate all Central District workforce members and patients. The OBCC team will work with you to ensure your child’s appointment is scheduled with your child’s primary care provider.

Q: When will the OBCC Central location re-open for families?

A:

Significant reconstruction on the interior of the building, and to the major building systems, is needed. Seattle Children’s, Odessa Brown and Carolyn Downs are engaging in a visioning process with our community to inform what services should be provided at the Central District clinic in the future. OBCC and Seattle Children’s Facilities teams are currently evaluating temporary locations to provide care for patients in the Central District during the reconstruction of the OBCC building.

Seattle Children’s is firmly committed to having a presence in the Central District community. It may be several months before we know what the Central District clinic might look like in the future and how best we can continue serving families in the Central District.

Help us better navigate the next steps to serve you and your family in the Central District by sharing your feedback.

Q: Who do I contact to schedule an appointment if my child used to be seen at OBCC Central District?

A: To make an appointment, call the OBCC scheduling coordinators at 206-987-7210.

Q: Who do I call if I have questions?

A: Questions related to your child’s care should be directed to your child’s primary care provider.

Q: Are all services that were offered at OBCC Central District also offered at OBCC Othello?

A: Yes, OBCC Othello offers many of the same services including dental, medical, behavioral health and community services. Dermatology, which was previously only offered at the Central District, is offered at Othello.

Q: How can families and the community stay up to date on progress?

A: We will provide updates through the OBCC website and OBCC Facebook page.
