Seattle Children's Health Equity and Anti-Racism Action Plan

A message to Seattle Children's Workforce and Community from Dr. Jeff Sperring

Today I am writing to share Seattle Children’s Health Equity and Anti-Racism Action Plan (en Español) in response to the recommendations Covington & Burling outlined in their independent assessment of Seattle Children’s efforts to dismantle racism and promote diversity, equity and inclusion.

This has been, and will continue to be, a challenging time for Seattle Children’s but I believe we will meet this moment and become the anti-racist organization that our workforce, patients and families expect and deserve us to be. I would also like to take this opportunity to say how grateful I am to lead an organization with so many members of our workforce ready to engage and join the leadership team and myself in the work ahead. I would also like to share a message from Hospital Board of Trustees Chair Susan Betcher and myself.

Thank you for all that you do for our patients and families and helping us deliver on our mission of providing hope, care and cures so every child may lead their most fulfilling life possible.

Jeff Sperring, MD
CEO, Seattle Children's
